Advertising is:
Advertising: A campaign promoting a product or idea which can persuade or interest a target audience to purchase or use products and services. The campaign may use many different forms of media to promote a message for a set amount of time.
Media platforms used in advertising:
-magazine adverts (what type of magazine this would be shown in)
-video adverts (YouTube-how they appear if you can skip or have to watch all)
-social media adverts (how they are shown=popup adds)
-email shots
-billboards (over the line advertising, mass media is expensive)
-television
-flyers, leaflets, pamphlets (below the line advertising, targeting to a specific audience)
-word of mouth
Evian:
-own brand with it
-their advertisements are white with the slogan always noticeable
-white represents the purity of Evian water
-mountain=Evian
-Ethos is suggesting if you drink this water you are healthy (second youth)
-Target Audience-people who live active lifestyles (20-30)
Gillette:
-fans of Gillette boycotted 'boys will be boys' advert
-controversial as men felt harassed 'sexual predators
Nike:
-dream crazy add
-targetted at people in minority groups
-celebrated the paralympic movement
-suggests if you have a disability you still have a chance
Why was this advert Pulled?
-seen as a political advert 'too political for Christmas'
-a PR stunt
What's your opinion?
-it reeducated us about palm oil and the deforestation
-made the new generation learn about this
-shouldn't have been banned as they are cutting palm oil in their products

Hi Yael,
ReplyDeleteLove the answer you give for the reasons you think the palm oil advert shouldn't have been banned - I agree it was certainly educational.
Unfortunately though, you have a lot of work missing in this post so please get t he following done:
1. Notes on the adverts Mr Boon discussed in the video: Evian/Gillette/Nike
2. Notes on the studiobinder link you were supposed to read
I can only see two posts so far and the deadline is this Monday 20th April for finishing the prep, so please bear that in mind.
Thanks,
Mr H
