Digital convergence: 
-is the combination of two or more different technologies in a single device to perform similar tasks.  It unites devices, systems, and people
-an example is a smartphone
-it gives you the ability to multitask and get more things done at once and tends to be more convenient

Disadvantages:
-eats time
-eats relationships  (we tend to neglect our family and friends)
-eats time at home

Definition:
-media technology coming together and performing similar tasks
-hardware's capability to do more than before
-e.g. phone to make phone calls sends texts and more
